Letter #4
Not a whole lot went on this week, so I'll just give you guys the quick rundown.
We had a general authority come for a devotional, it was pretty cool. We talked about the Book of Mormon and Joseph Smith, it was good but I think my favorite part was talking with my district about it after. After every devotional, we get with our district and talk and share our testimonies, the spirit is always super strong, it's always one of my favorite parts of the week.
We also had president Hymus (the MTC president) visit for our house devotional, he shared some really good thoughts about obedience, and how it brings blessings.
We also taught our first Spanish lesson in person! Needless to say, it was a bit rough, but I think we were able to get our point across well enough. Still have a long ways to go though.
Speaking of Spanish, we're going full Spanish on tomorrow. So wish us luck with that, we'll see how it goes.
One more thing to mention; they have a store on campus called the tienda, they sell super cool scripture cases and ties. Let's just say, even though it's pretty cheap, that store probably makes thousands on thousands of dollars a year; I may or may not have spent close to 100 bucks already (keep in mind they sell stuff in pesos, which is worth a lot less than the american dollar), but that's nothing compared to what some of the people in my district have been spending. In our defense, the stuff is actually really cool, I'll send a picture of some of it later.
As for the spiritual side of things, something that stood out to me this week is the power of our agency. Bad things happen a lot in life, and people may not always be the nicest, but we still get to choose how we react. Our agency is one of the most powerful things that Heavenly Father has given us, but oftentimes we give it up and choose to be acted on rather than act for ourselves. I want to invite you guys to always remember that you have a choice; it doesn't matter how you are wronged or by who, you can always make the choice to be happy. I promise that Heavenly Father will help you in your efforts, and that you can find happiness in your life, no matter what hardships you may be facing.
Anyways, that's about it. Love you guys, good luck to everyone who's starting with school! Til next time!
