Letter #10
Hola everyone!
Man what a week! Just a quick recap, got to travel over to San Salvador for some visa work, got to catch up with Elder Anhder and Williams, so that was a blast! Kinda threw off the week though, it was super weird coming back and speaking Spanish after talking in English with them for 2 days. But yeah got right back to work, had intercambios Friday, and thankfully they went a whole lot better than last time!
Saw a lot of cool miracles that day; we were teaching a family a while back that moved without telling us, but we just happened to pass by when they were sitting outside their new house! We were totally led to find them, so hopefully that goes somewhere. Also, just after one of our lessons fell through we were deciding what to do when a car stopped by us, and turns out it was members from Dallas (crazy right, what are the odds?) who were visiting family in El Salvador and wanted to know what time church was, it was pretty cool, they gave us some pan dulce (pretty much bread with sugar).
But yeah after that the next couple days kinda flopped ngl. I was having a hard time being motivated and was struggling with teaching and spanish and just all the stuff, but then Sunday was absolutely fuego. We had our ward conference, and the stake president and speakers were just pumping everyone up about missionary work, it was amazing!!
But yeah about the title... for those who aren't familiar with missions, every 6 weeks missionaries move around in the mission, get new companions, new areas, all the stuff. It's only been 5 weeks (which is still wild, time is flying by) but for some reason we're doing cambios a week early. Entonces, I was transferred and am opening a new area in Moncagua!! My new comps name is Elder Toledo, he's awesome. And also a native Spanish speaker, (which is good, me and Elder Moss had gotten into a bad habit of speaking English) so now I'm hoping I'll start seeing some improvements in spanish! Because we're opening the area, he's also new here too, so 2/2 transfers knowing nothing about the area, it'll be an adventure.
As for spiritual, one thing that's been catching my attention lately is applying the scriptures to ourselves. I like 2 Nephi 32:3 which says:
Angels speak by the power of the Holy Ghost; wherefore, they speak the words of Christ. Wherefore, I said unto you, feast upon the words of Christ; for behold, the words of Christ will tell you all things what ye should do.
I like the word "feast" especially. Sometimes, with daily study, it's easy to fall into a habit of just doing it because you have to or because you know you should. But we get a lot more power from the scriptures when we do 2 things: first, find out how the scriptures relate to Christ, and second, find a way to apply the scripture in our lives.
But yeah thank you guys! Sorry I don't have a whole lot of time to respond to emails, but keep them up! Love you guys, until next time!
